Long Overdue Update

I’m sorry it has been a while since I last updated. Since we returned from vacation, I haven’t been feeling well, so I have been concentrating on getting better.

First, I had a cold, and it took me almost three weeks to get over it. Once that was gone, I started feeling bad a few days later. I’m not sure if it has to do with my cancer or what, but I have been getting headaches almost every day. I have been nauseous, weak, and dizzy, and I have had severe fatigue. I can’t help but notice that every time I feel better and start to work out and get active, I eventually come to a stop and suffer from fatigue. It is very frustrating to keep going through that same cycle repeatedly, but there isn’t much I can do about it.

I had an appointment with my surgeon last Monday to discuss my mammogram results and do my annual exam. The radiologist did see a few spots that needed an MRI to see more clearly. My surgeon said that he didn’t feel that an MRI was necessary because the area they are questioning is where I am starting to develop capsular contracture. He explained that the area is hard to see because my implants are over the muscle. Because we were already aware of the capsular contracture over six months ago, I am now seeing my surgeon every six months instead of once a year so he can keep an eye on me. He also said that an MRI is unnecessary because we are aware of the area that came up in my mammogram and that I have” bigger fish to fry” concerning my next PET scan and any possible changes. He asked me when my next scan and follow-up appointment would be with my medical oncologist, and he said that he would watch for the results to come in and then speak with my oncologist to see what is going on.

I will let you know what my PET scan results are when I get them, which will be on November 6ᵗʰ, when I have my next appointment with my medical oncologist.

What do you think?
